What are LinkedIn automation tools?
LinkedIn automation tools are apps that carry out repetitive LinkedIn prospecting actions for you, such as connection requests, messages, follow-ups, profile visits and InMails, inside daily limits you set. They work through your own LinkedIn account and stop or branch a sequence when a lead accepts or replies.
Most tools fall into three types:
- Cloud tools run campaigns on the vendor's servers, so your computer can stay off. Waalaxy, Dripify, Expandi and HeyReach all work this way, usually with a proxy or IP assigned to your account.
- Desktop apps run on your own machine, so activity comes from your usual device and connection. Linked Helper is the best-known example.
- Browser extensions act inside your open Chrome session. They are cheap to build and use, but the computer has to stay on, and several tools have moved away from this model.
A separate group, multichannel outreach tools, treats LinkedIn as one channel next to cold email, calls and SMS.
How to choose a LinkedIn automation tool
1. Number of LinkedIn accounts
Most tools price one seat per LinkedIn profile. If you run five or more profiles, look for sender rotation, a shared inbox and bundle pricing instead of paying seat by seat.
2. Sequence logic
Simple tools offer template sequences you fill in. Advanced tools let you branch on events such as "if connected" or "if replied". Branching gets better results but takes longer to set up.
3. Safety controls
Check for a dedicated IP or proxy per account, randomized delays, warm-up for new profiles and daily caps you can lower. Vendors that document these settings in their help center make risk easier to judge.
4. Sales Navigator support
If you prospect from Sales Navigator, check how many leads one search import loads and whether InMail steps are supported. Import caps differ between tools.
5. Email steps and enrichment
Some tools include email steps and an email finder on every plan. Others lock email to a top tier or depend on an outside email platform.
6. CRM and integrations
Native HubSpot sync is common. Salesforce and Pipedrive support varies, so check the integrations page before you build a workflow around Zapier or webhooks.
7. Billing terms
Annual billing often cuts the price a lot. Compare the monthly rate too, and run the free trial on a warmed-up account before committing.
Which tool fits which use case
| Use case | What to look for | Example on Inranked |
|---|---|---|
| First LinkedIn campaigns on a small budget | Ready-made sequences, low annual price, modest quotas | Waalaxy |
| Solo sellers and recruiters who want LinkedIn and email in one drip | Email steps on every plan, Sales Navigator import, cloud runtime | Dripify |
| Teams that want branching sequences and native CRM sync | If/then logic, dedicated IP, automatic warm-up | Expandi |
| Agencies running many client profiles | Sender rotation, unified inbox, free team members, per-sender bundles | HeyReach |
| Users who want activity to come from their own computer | Desktop app, local control over pacing | Linked Helper |
| Email-first teams adding LinkedIn touches | Built-in email sending, warm-up, deliverability tools | See multichannel outreach tools |

Account safety and LinkedIn's rules
No LinkedIn automation tool is risk-free. LinkedIn's User Agreement does not allow third-party software that automates activity on the site, and LinkedIn can warn, restrict or ban accounts that use it. Every vendor we reviewed says use is at your own risk.
What tools can do is lower the chance of being flagged:
- Stay under LinkedIn's weekly invitation cap. The tools we reviewed cite caps from about 100 to about 200 invitations per week. HeyReach, for example, recommends a default of 25 connection requests per day and caps each sender at 200 per week.
- Keep your IP consistent. Expandi and HeyReach assign a dedicated IP or proxy per account, and Dripify gives each account an IP from your local region.
- Warm up new or quiet profiles. Start low and raise volume over two to three weeks.
- Watch your acceptance rate. HeyReach advises keeping it above 20%. A falling rate is an early warning sign.
- Do not mix tools or heavy manual activity. Running the same profile in two automation tools, or alongside heavy manual work, adds risk. Waalaxy pauses campaigns for 48 hours when it detects heavy manual activity.
Personal, relevant messages matter as much as technical safeguards. Generic pitches get ignored or reported, and reports hurt an account more than volume alone.
Pricing: what to expect
LinkedIn automation is usually priced per LinkedIn account, called a user, seat or sender. Based on the pricing pages covered in our reviews (checked October 2026):
- Entry level: Waalaxy starts at €19 per user per month billed annually, though monthly billing roughly doubles that.
- Mid range: Dripify costs $59 per user per month billed annually or $79 monthly. HeyReach costs $79 per sender per month, or $63 billed yearly.
- Premium single seat: Expandi costs $99 per seat per month, or $79 billed annually.
- Agency bundles: HeyReach's Agency plan is $999 per month for 25 senders, which works out cheaper per sender than Growth well before you reach 25.
Free plans are rare. The cloud tools we reviewed offer 7- to 14-day trials instead. Budget separately for Sales Navigator, extra email finder credits and add-ons such as personalized images. Check our deals page for current discounts.
Mistakes to avoid
- Running a brand-new or dormant account at full volume on day one.
- Treating a vendor's maximum quota as a safe target.
- Sending the same templated message to every lead without personalization.
- Connecting one LinkedIn profile to two automation tools at once.
- Choosing per-seat pricing for a multi-account agency setup without checking bundle plans.
- Paying monthly for a tool you plan to keep, when annual billing is much cheaper.
- Ignoring CRM sync until leads pile up in a tool your team cannot see.
- Using automation to grow a personal brand. Content tools in our personal branding category fit that goal better.
