What are LinkedIn lead generation tools?
LinkedIn lead generation tools turn LinkedIn searches into usable prospect lists. They import people from LinkedIn or Sales Navigator searches, add contact details such as verified business emails, and pass the list to an outreach sequence or your CRM.
The main types are:
- Search importers: tools or extensions that pull people from a LinkedIn, Sales Navigator or Recruiter search URL into a lead list.
- Email finders and enrichment tools: services that match a LinkedIn profile to a work email or phone number and verify it, usually on credits.
- B2B contact databases: large searchable databases of people and companies, often with intent or buying signals.
- Outreach tools with built-in prospecting: automation and multichannel platforms that bundle import, email finding and sequences in one product.
Inranked has not yet published a review of a dedicated data or email-finder tool. More reviews in this category are coming. Until then, this guide covers the prospecting features of outreach tools we have already reviewed.
How to choose a LinkedIn prospecting tool
1. Lead sources and import limits
Check which LinkedIn account types the tool can import from and how many profiles one import can hold. Limits differ a lot: Dripify's help center says one Sales Navigator search can load up to 2,475 profiles, while free LinkedIn and Recruiter searches are capped at 1,000.
2. Email finding and verification
Look for an email finder that also verifies addresses, and check whether credits are charged only for successful results. Coverage varies by country and job role, so test it on your own market.
3. Data freshness and accuracy
Ask how often data is refreshed and where it comes from. Tools that draw from several data providers tend to find more emails, but no source is complete.
4. Filtering and targeting
Sales Navigator filters, account-based lists and signals such as the topics people post about let you build smaller, sharper lists instead of large generic ones.
5. Duplicate and blacklist controls
Teams need duplicate prevention so two reps never contact the same person, plus blacklists for customers and competitors.
6. Export and CRM sync
A list is only useful if it reaches your workflow. Check CSV export, native CRM integrations and whether enriched fields map to your CRM properties.
7. Credit model and cost per lead
Divide the plan price by the number of verified contacts you actually get, not by the number of credits advertised.
Which tool fits which use case
| Use case | What to look for | Example on Inranked |
|---|---|---|
| Solo founder building first lead lists | Simple import from LinkedIn and Sales Navigator searches, low entry price | Waalaxy |
| Small team importing searches and finding emails in one place | Search URL import, email finder and verifier with monthly credits | Dripify |
| Targeted Sales Navigator campaigns | Search URL import, duplicate prevention at person and company level, blacklists | Expandi |
| Reaching people who ignore connection requests | Find-and-verify email as a sequence step, signals-based prospecting | Skylead |
| Email-first team that needs a lead database | Large built-in database, email and phone finder, enrichment credits | Lemlist |
| Large-scale list building | Standalone B2B database or enrichment platform with API access | Dedicated data provider (reviews coming) |
Once your list is ready, you will need a tool to contact it. Compare options in our guides to LinkedIn automation tools and multichannel outreach tools.
Data accuracy and GDPR
Prospecting data is personal data. A bad list costs you twice: bounced emails hurt your sender reputation, and careless collection can create legal risk.
- Verify before you send. Use a finder that verifies each address. Dripify, for example, only charges a credit when an address is found and verified, and Skylead verifies each address it finds to reduce bounces.
- Treat vendor match rates as claims. Waalaxy advertises a "guaranteed 61%+ match rate" for its Email Finder, and Skylead's coverage varies by market and job role. Test on a sample of your own targets.
- Respect LinkedIn's rules. LinkedIn's User Agreement does not allow third-party software that scrapes or automates activity on the site, and accounts using such tools can be restricted. Keep imports modest and targeted.
- Have a lawful basis under GDPR. If you contact people in the EU or UK, document why your outreach is relevant to their role, tell them where you got their data, and honor opt-outs quickly.
- Keep lists clean. Remove people who unsubscribe, delete stale records and avoid storing data you do not need.
Pricing: what to expect
Prospecting costs usually combine a seat price with data credits. Typical models among the tools we have reviewed:
- Per user with a small credit allowance. Waalaxy runs from €19 to €69 per user per month on annual billing, with 25 email finder credits on Pro and Advanced and 500 on Business. Dripify starts at $59 per user per month billed annually and includes 100 email finder credits per month.
- Credit packs. Dripify's extra packs start at $29 for 1,000 credits, which expire after 30 days.
- Enrichment add-ons. Lemlist's enrichment add-on costs $20 per month ($16 discounted) for 2,000 credits, which Lemlist equates to about 400 emails or 100 phone numbers.
- Bundled per seat. Skylead's All-in-one plan at $100 per seat per month includes email discovery and a B2B database.
Sales Navigator, which unlocks the best search filters, is billed separately by LinkedIn. Check our deals page for current discounts.
Mistakes to avoid
- Importing thousands of loosely filtered profiles instead of small, well-defined segments.
- Sending to unverified emails and damaging your domain reputation.
- Judging tools by database size instead of match rate in your own market.
- Forgetting that credits can expire or run out mid-month.
- Letting two reps or two tools contact the same lead.
- Ignoring GDPR opt-outs and data retention because the data came from a public profile.
